Photoshoot Client Collaboration

HOW MY PHOTOSHOOTS WORK……

So I tend to forget that a lot of my clients will never have had a professional photo shoot before, therefore I wanted to give you abit of an idea of how the whole process works with me!

BOOKING/ORDER PROCESS

I have a studio in the Forest of Dean, near Coleford, although I live in Ross-on-Wye. My studio shoots are lovely, relaxed and informal with a home set up, I can create a beautiful array of images for some more staged newborn type shots to more fun family portraits or stunning boudoir style maternity portraits.

My outdoor shoots can be taken in Herefordshire/Gloucestershire/Monmouthshire and surrounding areas, I am more than willing to travel further but additional travel costs apply.

I base my photo shoot packages on an initial fee that covers the photo shoot experience itself, then an extra payment is made for the digital files.

After a shoot has taken place I put together an online viewing gallery, this is live for one week and is perfect for you to peacefully view the photos together and make decisions on your favourites. Once you’ve chosen your images I put together an order form to place your order. After payment is received I then work on your images before sending over the digital files.

PHOTOGRAPHER/CLIENT STYLE

Most of my clients will choose to have a portrait session with me as they have seen my galleries and like my individual style of portraiture. For my studio sessions, maternity shoots in particular, I have a client wardrobe to choose form, this is great especially when pregnant, as most Mums-to-be don’t want to be spending lots of money on items they may only wear once!

As soon as a client gets in touch with me I try to get an understanding of what they are after and we discuss the best options available to them depending on the time of year and the types of portraits we want to achieve. I take these chats as the start of the collaboration, my studio can be adjusted to specific tastes and I love to give clients options on the elements involved.

In the studio I have various newborn outfits, swaddles, colours, materials and props as well as the maternity wardrobe. Upon booking I send a detailed shoot preparation email so you can get a better understanding of how the shoot you have chosen will work. I get asked a million questions and that’s totally the best way to be, no question is too big or small so please ask away!!

I’ll also recommend items that you can bring along yourself as I always think it’s so special to include specific family items, whether that’s a knitted item for baby or a special shirt or matching outfits for the kids.

Also available prior to shoots is a more in depth styling consultation, this will be taken in the build up to the shoot, either via zoom, WhatsApp or Facebook and will involve selecting particular colour schemes and outfit ideas for each family member. This will also take into consideration the location the shoot will take place in and your personal family style, this is so important if your end game is to have a beautiful family portrait on the wall!

My aim in every single shoot I undertake is to make sure they are authentic to you as a family, we chat through the whole styling process during the shoot and my gallery collection enables a huge variety of shots to choose from. I always say to clients that it’s so hard to understand how the shot will look when you’re in the pose yourself and they are always blown away with the finished results!!
