Benefits of booking a maternity and Newborn Photoshoot
Most new mamas tend to first want to book a newborn photoshoot, without feeling prepared or confident enough for a maternity photoshoot. Believe me, when baby has arrived you’ll miss your glorious bump and everything it has achieved for your beautiful family.
As a Mum of 2 myself I understand the feeling of not enjoying every aspect that your body goes through during pregnancy, the swelling, the aches and just generally not quite feeling yourself.
That’s why I recommend having your shoot before you hit the 36 week mark (if possible), most mamas-to-be can have a lovely size bump by 30 weeks. Do not panic if you feel overly big or overly small for the weeks pregnant that you are, every single bump is different, I know, I have photographed a huge amount of pregnant women in my ten years experience!!
So get in touch with me and be totally honest with how you feel about your bump, we can arrange the shoot slightly earlier or slightly later, I am totally guided by you and your personal feelings.
The aim of my maternity photoshoots are similar to an engagement shoot before a wedding, it’s a wonderful time to get to know your Newborn photographer and the best time to enjoy being you and being pregnant. I love having your partner involved too, as it’ll be one of the last portraits you’ll have taken before becoming a family unit, you’ll look back very fondly on the photoshoot experience itself, as well as the finished photos.
If you already have children it’s a perfect opportunity to time spend together without any distractions, you can simply play, cuddle and explore. I will always encourage you to just have lots of fun, my portraits are natural and about you all connecting together as a family.
We will then meet again at the studio for your Newborn Photoshoot, when your little one has made their arrival, I recommend having your shoot with baby is 5-10 days old.
When having had a maternity shoot with a toddler, they’ll be so much more excited to see ‘the camera lady’ again (I normally have treats and encourage being silly so they tend to remember me!!) They’ll settle much better into the studio environment, relax and hopefully you will too, allowing me to capture you all as a family in the most natural way, those beautiful connections, extra special moments and newborn snuggles.
I encourage you to ask any and every question you may have when planning your shoot so never feel like it’s silly or unnecessary. I want you to love every aspect of your experience with me and preparation really helps!!
Looking forward to hearing from you soon!
