To all the Mamas out there, this lockdown stuff has been hardwork!!

Whether you’re a new mum or a mum with a huge homeschooling work load with 3 kids, you’re all doing amazing.

Something I have struggled with as a mum, generally, is getting any shots of myself with the kids, let alone shots that I actually like…this is a different matter entirely!

But during every session where I have gorgeous little ones along with gorgeous mamas, I always try and encourage a cheeky little mama and me portrait. Even if Mums are reluctant, I do push as I know looking back, particularly in 5 years time you’re going to be so pleased that you did.

We end up with hundreds of thousands of shots with our kids, but believe me, when the kids look back in years to come, it’s going to be the portraits with mama that are the ones they adore.

Lockdown has certainly shown us the struggles but it has also shown us what’s important too.

I’m putting together a specific mama and me portrait package for all those mums out there who would love a session dedicated to these amazing portraits.

They don’t need to be the ‘classic portrait’ of smiling at the camera, these can simply be snuggles, playing and generally just showing the beautiful connection that only a mama and little one can have.

Don’t get me wrong I know there are lots of Dads out there who take amazing portraits of their partners and kids but I feel (particularly in my own family) that I am always behind the camera, trying to make sure there are shots of Daddy and kids. So this last year I have really made a conscious effort to get more shots of me and the kids as well as shots of us as a whole family.

These sessions can be taken in your own home as a lifestyle shoot, at my boutique studio in the Forest of Dean (near Coleford) or on location. If you like the location idea, I choose the spot depending on the time of year and what’s looking best! I also love for families to suggest their own special spot to use, this just makes a session even more special.

I will also be offering a pre-shoot consultation in terms of styling, (don’t worry this doesn’t have to involve spending money!!) just abit of a chat, possibly via zoom, or just WhatsApp. Where Mums can show me what they have in their wardrobe and I can advise what I think would work best, depending on the chosen backdrop and their own personal style. This really helps with the confidence towards a session.

As for our own nerves, and body conscious worries, I will guide you during the session. Putting your hair here, looking up etc, without taking over the session and making it look too posed. As well as being a body conscious mama myself, I know exactly the parts we worry about and always photograph in the most flattering way possible. Airbrushing is also included as standard in all of my sessions, so please tell me if there’s a birth mark or scar that you maybe particularly worried about.

After a session I put all the best shots into an online gallery, you can then view them in the comfort of your own home and make decisions on which are your favourites. These sessions will be priced at the same point as my outdoor family portraits £29 and digital files are £10 each, with discounts available on multiple purchases. Also you can bring along your partner too and I’m more than happy for them to jump in on some shots as well!
